Wildwood Park

In this "village" in which I spent some time in. There was this park. It covered a lot of ground. With two or three playground parks, a skating rink, basket ball court, a garden, tennis court, a skate boarding area and picnic grounds. It was a family place, cars had a pathway to get around. Schools near by used the area aswell. There was even a McDonald near by.

The perfect place for two teenage girls to hang out on a day they had nothing to do. That's exactly what me and my best friend did. We wondered around falling in love with greenery, which was almost like a forest. The creeks that flowed through with bridges above to cross, seemed magical.

We enjoyed it, every ounce of it. Even though, years from then I can't forget that trip. You see there were these few spots that spooked us, while enchanting our over creative minds. We wondered, where there ghosts here? Did someone die? It was old and there was abundance of space to hide things here.

Little of that truth did I know. In time I learned this park was much bigger then I noted above. But we are only talking about this visit here. You see the one thing I couldn't get over about this trip was: there wasn't a mishap.

Don't get me wrong, it is a good thing that nothing bad happened. Yet I know it should have. You see my best friend, (For the purpose of identity privacy a fake name is provided for my best friend) Savita, did not have a great reaction time as she had vision problems. I mean she had glasses.

After ogling the many sites the place offered, it was time to head back. I was getting late. I for one did not like it when my father got upset, he could barely contain himself if I was ten minutes late. Getting back to the story now, we were walking down a path, where even cars would drive.

We were aware of the dangers and kept close to the side. As I found most cars left on this track I put myself in the back. I'm pretty big so it isn't hard to miss me. Savita on the other hand was very short, I mean very short. She was infront, idly leading.

That's where it should have happened. Right when we heard that engine coming up. That roar of it speeding around the curve, almost out of control. I remember reaching out, but there was a few inches between her and I. I remember moving foreward to get close enough to pull her way.

But I still wasn't close enough. She jerked as if someone grabbed her and tugged her back. Not as if she moved back, the force to it even toppled her almost. A near miss, I stared as I held her from falling. The red car whisked by, still at a higher speed then allowed.

Now that I think of it, in that moment, time had slowed down. Almost as if we were not there, but not like an outer body experience. At least for me that was the case. Afterwards we continued on, going home, saying how kids play around in the area and that's dangers.

I knew that in reality that was not what we were thinking. The real question was 'who pulled Savita back?' Even now I wonder, was it a ghost? Maybe a gaurdian angel? But I didn't really want to know, did I.
